A problem shared… Tanwen helps us to make a bright and sparkly worry jar so that our children may find it easier to talk about their troubles.
What is a “Worry Jar”?
The worry jar is designed by the child and parent and whenever they have a worry the put it in the jar, when they want to talk about the worry again they can take it back out of the jar. Any new worries can be put in at any time.
You will need:
- A jar
- Glitter/paper anything to decorate with
- PVA glue
- Paper
- A pen, to write down your worries.
If you do not have a jar, you can draw a jar on a piece of paper and stick some post-it notes with your worries on them.
Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Tanwen. I am the mother of a soon to be 5-year-old daughter and a 4-month-old baby girl.
I work as a Family Engagement Worker in a Specialist High School my main focus being on additional needs and well-being. I am also a Mental Health First Aider. I have worked with young people from various settings for over 10 years now.
I have been pretty keen on doing lots of well-being and emotion activities with my daughter since she has been off school in lockdown as it is the main priority for a child who is not able to see family members and friends and routine has changed.
