Hannah, from Boston UK, created a beaufiful feature wall made up of free samples! Let’s take a look…
What did you do?
I created a unique feature wall made with free wallpaper samples. If you can’t choose a wallpaper and don’t wanted to wallpaper the whole wall this is for you.
I painted the whole room white so it was a plain blank canvas to work with. I wanted to use lots of different wallpapers as I couldn’t chose. I then made a template of a hexagon which I drew around on various wallpaper samples. These samples were collected from all major diy shops for free. I cut them out with wallpaper scissors to achieve a clean straight cut. I cut out interesting points in the wallpaper (eg a bird or particular flower).
I wanted the hexagons to form a honeycomb shape, I achieved this by leaving small gaps between the hexagons on the wall. My hexagon size was 40cm across the middle 20cm all side but you can go smaller if required. I used wallpaper vinyl boarder adhesive pre mix to glue to the wall.
Position your hexagon then rub evenly over surface with a credit card or dry cloth down ensuring you are bubble and crease free and wipe excess adhesive off with damp cloth .
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Hannah. I am a married mother of two young children. I have a degree in Fine Art and am trained in Graphic design. I am from the UK.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I’m finding I need to do little projects to keep me sane. The kids are wonderful but I need creative tasks to do alone.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Create a happy creative environment where baking making things and exploring are as important as the academic stuff.
