Arlene, from Angus, Scotland, sent in this great treasure maps idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Easily make a treasure map and create a fun treasure hunt!
Rip a piece of paper to create a map shape.
Dip a teabag in warm water, rub and press the teabag to stain the paper.
I initially dipped the paper in hot water for tea for hours but a friend told me to do the above. Scrunch the paper up (for effect) carefully then straighten out. Hang out to dry over night, it may rip as you handle it but dont worry it adds to the effect.
Once dry u may want to burn the edges.
Choose a room to place the treasure, then make letters to collect that will spell out the room/place.
Then have fun creating clues where each letter can be found and write and draw the clues on the map with pictures.
It’s great fun! The kids and adults will love it!!!!
Do you have any other projects planned?
The kids are now working on their own treasure hunt for me to do, can’t wait!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m a single parent with 2 boys who love pirates so this was right up their street!
How are you finding being housebound so far?
We’re enjoying it. We are a family that keeps busy and have fun no matter if we’re out or at home.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Have fun!
