Katrina, from Dubai, invites us to enjoy a spa experience at home. Lets find out more…

What did you do?

Prior to the Spa session, the children made a foot scrub by mixing 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of softened coconut oil and a teaspoon of vanilla, then stored in a jar. They also created a face mask by mixing 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt and 2 tablespoons of warm honey and also stored this in a jar.

On the day of the Spa session, there was an area set up for the foot soak and scrub and an area to lay and relax with the face mask on.
I added some Spa essentials such as; lemon, cucumber and pink grapefruit water (I added the left over slices to my foot soak), a mirror, towels and played music from a Bali Spa in the background.

The children enjoyed pampering their Mommies particularly by applying the face mask, some of the children even joined in dabbing the face mask onto their own face too. They took great care when using the foot scrub and some of the children used jugs to pour over their Mommy’s feet to wash away the granules.
It was a lovely online learning session and an extra special time for the Mommies in my class.
NB: Candles in the photos were for illustration purposes and removed before the session.

The face mask was ever so cooling, however be sure to wash away properly after 10 minutes maximum, as I did start to feel like I had dry food on my face as I left mine on whilst chatting to the children throughout the session.

The foot scrub felt amazing! It really did make my feet feel so soft, I have used it again since and made another batch.

Do you have any other projects planned?

My next project with the Children will be our a Virtual Field trip. We will make a car from a cardboard box and take a drive to the Drive in Cinema, watch a short movie and then drive to our Nursery to see our old classmates for our End of Year party.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

As I dont currently have children I haven’t experienced what the Moms have been experiencing but I understand it has been challenging at times and memorable the next.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

My tip would be to try to stick to a basic routine, dont overthink it when it comes to activities some of the best and most rewarding are often free in exploration. Try to mix it up and add in a few fun activities that you also want to be involved in, if you are enthusiastic about an activity, so will your child and involve them as much as possible in the process of setting up the activity, this is often the most important part.

Has this website and community helped you?

This site has a fantastic range of ideas it is truely inspiring and I feel very proud to be able to share one of my activities on here.
