Cara, from North Wales, sent in this great dry-snowboarding idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
My 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter are always creating their own fun, particularly outdoors. It was in the garden, during lockdown, when my son came up with the idea of creating ‘snowboards’ to do tricks on using only timber and duct tape.
Step 1: Find a plank of timber.
Step 2: Find some old shoes.
Step 3: Place the shoes onto the timber (with a good sized gap in the middle).
Step 4: Using duct/duck tape, tape the shoes onto the plank of timber until securely fastened.
Step 5: Place your feet inside the shoes.
Step 6: Practise jumping up and landing on your board on a flat surface to begin with.
Step 7: Once you’re confident jumping up and down, you’re ready to learn some tricks! Have fun
Step 8: Always check for signs of wear on the duct tape/ timber and replace if necessary.
Duct/duck tape worked well, particularly the extra strong variety. Parcel tape was tried but wasn’t strong enough to hold.
Old shoes are advised, to avoid tape marking.

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Cara. I live in North Wales with my husband Ian, our son aged 11, our daughter aged 9 and our dog Tedi.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
The time together has been precious. Our children are so creative and are always finding new ways of making their own fun, particularly outdoors.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Use the great outdoors as much as possible (always following government guidelines of course). Have fun. Find a routine that works for you all. Embrace creativity. Encourage perseverance. Don’t worry if things don’t go to plan. Never give up
