Paula, from Rochdale, shares her messy play time activity with us…
What did you do?
I bought a 55p bottle of shaving foam and filled tuff tray (any tray would do) and then added ordinary poster paints in blobs all over the foam. I gave the girls several large paint brushes to mix the paint in and also some ice cream scoops and plastic ice cream cones and some cake sprinkles.
It began with them mixing the colours in and then mixing different colours together to make new colours which they challenged each other to do then I added the ice cream cones and scoops for them to make pretend ice cream. They did some awesome role play. However when they had finished it was a murky brown colour as all the colours were mixed together which looked disgusting but they just called it chocolate flavoured ice cream!
Do you have any other projects planned?
I tend to work around themes and my next themes are festivals and circus (greatest showman).
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is paula, I have 2 girls age 5 & 8. I’m a childminder but currently closed due to coronavirus.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Activities are getting thin on the ground after 3 months as we are shielding so can’t really go anywhere or do much outside of the home.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Don’t stress or feel guilty.
Has this website and community helped you?
It looks awesome and has some great ideas. I love the idea of everyone coming together and helping each other out in these difficult times!
