Lydia, from Spain, sent in this great salt and glue painting idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
It only takes a couple of things that we all probably have at home: salt or sugar and glue. First, we make the drawing that we like the most (I drew tulips and daisies because they are my favourite flowers) on a cardboard and then we rewrite all the lines with glue. When it begins to harden, we sprinkle salt or sugar. Then, we remove the excess and when it is completely dry we paint it with pipettes and paints of different colors. It is very easy to do and the result is so gorgeous!!
So that the result of the activity is as beautiful as possible, it’s important that before painting we check that the salt and the glue have resisted and are dry enough so that the drawing is perfect and the colors do not blur.
Do you have any other projects planned?
I’m thinking of doing activities with materials related to the beach and the sea, which can be easily found and reused creatively.

How are you finding being housebound so far?
I’m fine!! The children have accepted the quarantine admirably and have remained at home doing their homework and also games and activities. As soon as the quarantine was over we have started going out taking all the anti-COVID security precautions and now it is gratifying to be able to do many things together.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
I think the most important thing is to allow children to play and discover what is around them. Parents can promote this discovery with fun and original activities and games, using materials that we have at home and with which we can help to develop creativity and enthusiasm for learning.
Has this website and community helped you?
I find it wonderful. It provides great ideas for parents to carry out in the education and learning of our children.
