Kim, from Plymouth, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Our five year old son hates writing (even numbers apparently). So I decided to make this as an alternative to help him learn how to count in 5’s. (He loves shapes and sticking!)
In this version, I simply printed out my design on to paper and stuck the stars onto card.
The stars were quite tricky to cut out, but my son loved putting them all in order and sticking them down. I’ve since added extra stars (counting in two’s) and made a black and white version that saves ink (and could be coloured in).
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Kim, I live with my husband and son Isaac who is 5.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
We’ve absolutely loved having the extra time with Isaac. It’s hard, stressful at times, and exhausting occasionally, but the school have been great and we’ve very aware of how lucky we are.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Have compassion for yourself and the kids… especially now! Try not to enter into power struggles, and it’s always useful to have a few creative ideas up your sleeve as alternatives to what might feel like an endless stream of worksheets.
