Kyran, from Arbroath, Scotland, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
We made an extra large batch of pancake dough. We split the dough over 5 squeezey sauce bottles and added some food colouring to each one. This made our rainbow dough. The squeezey bottle nozzles allowed us to draw shapes, faces and write messages in our pancakes. Older kids can create characters and draw pictures, younger children can create shapes and emoji faces!
The pan needs to be hot, and on a very low heat. Remember if writing messages you need to write backwards so that it reads forwards once you flip it over!
Do you have any other projects planned?
Our next project is to try rainbow scones….
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Kyran, I have 2 children who I am homeschooling just now due to the corona virus. My children, my daughter especially loves crafting, baking and rainbows!
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Home schooling has been challenging, but each day we do something creative and try to work school in. For this activity my daughter had the challenge of doubling all the ingredients in our recipe to make a bigger batch.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
A little success everyday makes a successful week…
Has being part of our community helped you?
I love borrowing creative ideas from others, often we will adapt to suit us but the inspiration has been fantastic.
