Katie, from Nebraska, in the United States, sent in this great rainbow letters and tracing idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This activity is fun and easy! All you do is write one letter of the alphabet in a color of the rainbow on a little cut up white piece of paper, repeat until you’ve written every letter.

Make sure to use a variety of rainbow colors. Then take a large white paper and write letters in random places in black marker. Mix up your rainbow letters and place them in a bowl.

Give your child markers in all the colors of the rainbow. They will choose a letter out of the dish, find it on the white paper, and trace it in the matching color.

You can be near and have your child read the letter to you before tracing or make the sound, but that part is not necessary if doesn’t work for you at that moment.

It was fun, easy, and a good way to practice handwriting, letter recognition, letter names, and sounds.
