The rainbow cake was the first attempt at any kind of cake. I was quite impressed by how it turned out (I’ve included a recipe in the photos of what I used. I used Dr.Oetkers food gels in various colours, about half a tube each). My daughter helped with the buttercream icing.
Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Stacey. I am mum to 3 children- Megan, 16, Joshua, 9, and Harry 6. I am from South Wales, UK. I am very craft minded and I absolutely love anything creative from scrapbooking to rock painting, dolls house making to quilling.. you name it and I will give it a try!
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I am enjoying being housebound so far. I have many ideas to do with the kids (thanks to websites like this!) and it’s lovely to just spend time with them.
We have already made a cardboard box slide for the stairs, made ourselves into glow stick people, and made a giant great barrier reef picture on the back of a roll of wallpaper.
We have enjoyed doing the #Clapforcarers on a Thursday at 8pm and we do 3 weekly live family quizzes on YouTube.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
My tip while in lockdown with kids is to remember to look after yourselves. I go for a long soak in the tub with a good book and a cup of tea to relax!
I love the Housebound with Kids website as it is clear and easy to navigate and I will definitely be using it to add to my ever-growing list of ideas!
