Heena, from Mumbai, India, shares her rainbow craft with us. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This is a very easy peasy activity! And oh so colourful!

Material:
1. Crepe Paper also known as coloured Tissue Paper (all the colours from the Rainbow).
2. A4 size White Blank Paper.
3. Crayons
4. Black Marker
5. Glue

Methods:
1. On the A4 white paper draw a rainbow using the black marker. Colour it.
2. Tear bits of paper using the crepe paper and crumple it and keep it in seven different bowls so it’s easy for the child to pick it up.
3. Tearing the crepe paper can be done before hand. You can even involve your child in this as tearing and crumpling the paper is a great fine motor activity.
4. Apply glue on the rainbow, one colour at a time and ask your child to stick the matching coloured crepe paper.

Voila! Our beautiful Rainbow is ready.

This is not just making a rainbow craft but this activity helped in building fine motor skills, colour sorting, eye-hand coordination, concentration and attention span building.

I’m going to be really honest here. This is too much to do for any child and thus I was helping my son in sticking the crepe paper too. My son did only red, orange, yellow and green and a bit of the blue, violet and indigo. He was happily doing the warm colours as he only likes warm colours.

Do you have any other projects planned?

This activity was a series from my Phonics activities or the ABC series where I was doing letter R. My next project is letter S and activities all related to the letter S.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It is going great so far and we are spending time by doing different activities and learning so many things.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

My only tip is to be patient with your kids when you are housebound with them. We learn so much from them on a daily basis and it’s amazing to see them evolve everyday.

Has this website and community helped you?

This website is amazing. I love everything about it. It is a great platform to help parents find engaging activities to do with their kids. No searching here and there.
