Lyndsey, from Consett, Co Durham, and family built and personalised some toy boxes. Let’s take a look…
What did you do?
I’d always wanted personalised toy boxes for my daughters bedroom but couldn’t justify the £200 price tag. Inspired by an article I read I decided to make my own. I purchased the toy boxes from eBay with soft close lids, then ordered letters, stars, foam padding, soft wadding, material, paint tester pots, multi purpose glue and fabric glue.
My husband kindly built the toy boxes for me while I set about painting the letters and stars. I cut the foam and wadding to match the size of the lid and glued the fabric on to this to make a seat cushion.
Once paint dried on letters I used a spirit level and tape measure to place them correctly and glued with multi purpose glue.
Think it cost about £50 – 60 per box.
Love the overall finish.
Glue may not hold on fabric with young children jumping on and off seat so may have to stitch it to secure it.
