Lisa, from West Yorkshire in the UK, sent us details of this stunning paper mache Olaf creation that her partner, Richard, created.
What did you do?
I used newspaper and plastic pots for Olaf’s feet and gradually build him up to shape.
Paper Mache Instructions:
- I Chopped up newspapers into tiny pieces, left in boiling water for 24hours.
- Drained out the water.
- Added salt and flour then blended the mixture to create a dough.
- I used 2 old paint pots for the feet and an old spray bottle to build up the body to help give a little extra support. I built the body up in stages, giving each segment at least 24hours to dry before starting on the next.
- For the head, I created a plastic template and paper mache’d round it till I was satisfied with the shape.
- The arms and hair are simply just sticks and twigs glued together then covered in paper mache.
- Same process with the flowers. Paints used were acrylic and gloss.
What is next on the project list?
