Emma from the Uk has been making paper bead art. Let’s take a look at what she did…
What did you do?
I’m all for reusing things around the house, especially during this time. I find myself spending more and more to try out stuff we’ve not done before. But this one? This costs nothing. Some scrap paper (magazines, newspapers, coloured paper, wrapping paper, wallpaper etc), some string or wool and some card (I used an amazon box).
For the beads – cut your chosen paper in long strips (I did mine an inch wide) and then cut these in half to make long triangles.
Then I wrapped them round the end of a thin paintbrush, dab of glue on the tip and you’re done.
Now just make 500 more
Hang them on string. I even made some with elastic to make bracelets and necklaces.
For the Love one, I threaded wire through some string and bent it to spell love.
For the cloud one, I cut a cloud shape out of cardboard and then glued kitchen paper towel over it to create a swirly pattern, then painted when dry.
There’s very little that can go wrong with this craft. The only thing I wouldn’t do again was try to glaze the beads with glue. They just got stuck to the wool and I ended up ripping them. Maybe I’ll use spray lacquer next time.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Emma and I’m 33 and I have 3 boys (5/4/1) and another on the way. They were too young to have the patience for this craft, but I enjoyed it!
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I love being home with the kids and my husband. A once in a life time opportunity.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Utilise screen time. We have mornings before lunch. This lets me get on with stuff I need/want to do and then we have the whole afternoon to play/make/create.
