Megan from Southern California, USA, has two children ages 3.5 (Ella) and 1.5 (Ava). She is an elementary school counsellor currently and enjoying and embracing this time home with her family. They have created a great activity that combines both sensory and art. What a beautiful way to create a rainbow with different natural textures and colours. Let’s see how they did it…
Describe activity:
Items needed:
- different coloured plants/ flowers
- construction paper
- glue.
Steps:
- Go on a nature walk and collect different coloured plants/flowers/petals
- separate the plants by colour
- use glue to create a rainbow shape on paper
- place flowers/plants on glue rainbow
- let dry!
Notes/any other info about it – what worked/didn’t work
You could let the plants dry out and use contact paper to preserve.
What’s your next project idea:
Our next project will be bubble foam! A simple and fun sensory activity my girls LOVE. Uses only 3 ingredients and the bubble foam lasts about 45 minutes.
How are you finding being housebound with kids so far?
Being housebound with my kids has its daily challenges, but overall, I am truly grateful for this time. It has been a true joy and gift!
Any tips to help people when they are housebound with kids?
A tip I would give to being housebound with kids is give yourself grace and take things one day at a time! Your kids need love and safety and that’s what you provide, as their parent. 🙂
