Sujitha, from India, sent in this great nature bookmark idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
This nature craft keeps the kids outside exploring and enjoy some peace inside by creating the craft.
Things that are needed for the craft:
Some pressed flowers of your choice.
Cellotape or contact paper.
Scissors
Tag or wool if you have any.
Punching machine
How to press flowers?
First things you got to do is go for a nature walk, get some fresh air and collect the flowers or leaves that you adore. (Be careful when picking flowers as some are poisonous).
Wash and dry it under the sun gently until the water drains out.
There are many ways to press the flowers but I choose a very old method. I kept the collected flowers in the middle of the books and placed weight on it. After a few weeks, they are all pressed, this way you can actually retain the colour with a little faded look.
Pressed flowers are more fragile, so you got to handle it carefully.
Later,
Place the cellotape on the wall or lay it down.
Let kids stick the flowers the way they desire.
Now gently cover the top layer with cellotape. It’s ok if some flowers or leaves popping out. You can cut them out with scissors.
Make a hole using the punching machine and tie tag or wool that is available.
Tada. The nature bookmark is ready now.
It is really a very simple DIY project that your kids will love to make.
This can be used for years and kept as a keepsake or can be used as a return gift for some kids parties.
Hope you enjoyed reading.
