Bear, from England, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
We love using natural resources in our play and there’s so many beautiful ways to use natural materials for art. For this activity we had fun collecting leaves, flowers, weeds and pinecones and we used them to create nature collage pictures.
The sensory element of this activity is so calming- the different textures, smells and colours have quite a mindful effect. The creativity it encourages is lovely to see.
Do you have any other projects planned?
We’re creating a mud kitchen and campsite with a sensory garden outside.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Bear and I have a 4-year old daughter. I work as a nursery teaching assistant but mostly enjoy doing lots of play based learning at home.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I am absolutely loving being home so much with my daughter. We’ve started two instagram accounts to share all the fun we’re having whilst learning at home – @play_at_home_bear and @play_at_home_books
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Use social media to connect with other like-minded parents to both share ideas and to make new friends. I’ve made so many new friendships through Instagram and I’m loving that about it. Make the most of this special family time and have fun!
Has this website and community helped you?
Celebrating home learning and play ideas is a fantastic idea.
