Sofia, from Argentina and now living Auckland, New Zealand, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This mini ice rink can bring so much fun to your home.
To make the mini ice rink you only need a plastic container (the bigger the better) and water. Fill the container with a little water, about 1 or 2 cm and let it freeze. Once it has frozen or somehow hardened add the details of the rink with coloured paper, such as goals and centre court, then add more water trying to keep those paper cuts in place. Let it freeze completely and it will be ready for a great play match.

For the hockey sticks, I used a popsicle stick and a rounded one that I had at home. I cut the popsicle stick to make the head part and inserted it into the round stick and secured it with wire. Or you can just use glue.

For the puck I used two Lego pieces! And worked perfect.

I tried first to draw the lines with food colouring but didn’t really worked.
So I used coloured paper instead. Much easier!

At first I intended to use a small rounded black magnet for the puck but as I used wire to secured my sticks… didn’t really work as planned. Instead I had to use two Lego pieces.

Do you have any other projects planned?

Many new ideas coming soon. Cardboard craft, process art, cake decoration, recycled craft.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

We are not housebound anymore here in NZ. But we were for 6 weeks. I’ve to be honest, I liked it! We did lots of crafts and art and we enjoyed our family time together. Of course, some days were a bit intense 😊

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Try to not put too much pressure on you. It’s a difficult and challenging time for all. Try to do something fun for the whole family at least once a day.

Has this website and community helped you?

It’s great to have all these resources on hand for any type of activity.
