Rachel, from Herts, shows us her fun maths challenge game. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

We made a very simple game to practice maths (addition) today. We gave a question and some animals to count with and a tray covered with silver foil with 3 options.

All she had to do was work out and write the correct answer and break thought the foil to see if there was a star underneath. If she found a star she got some pieces for a puzzle that she had wanted. Once she’d done all the sums and found all the stars then she could complete her puzzle. Easy to adapt to lots of different areas of learning whether maths, phonics, or anything else you can make multiple choice and certainly one we’ll be doing again.

She must have enjoyed it as she’s now asking to make her own one with shapes for her little brother next.

Do you have any other projects planned?

We’ve got lots of new things coming on our Instagram page and we’ll certainly be adapting this with a focus on phonics next time.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

Our kids have flourished and loved spending the time with them (most of the time!). We’re making the most of the time with them and grateful that we had the opportunity to take our daughter away from an unsuitable village school that was doing far more damage than good!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Enjoy the time that you have with them even on the hard days – it’s a unique time we’re going through. Kids are like sponges they’ll be absorbing all the information and feelings so its important to make positive memories.

Has this website and community helped you?

It’s got some great ideas all in one place.
