What did you do?
30 minutes+ prep for 6 seconds of enjoyment but so worth it to see his little face!
After reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar we (by that I mean my husband as he’s far better at drawing than me) drew a butterfly on to a sheet of kitchen roll. A second sheet sat on top and once placed in a tray of water, revealed the hidden picture underneath – just like magic Jake straight away asked for ‘another one please’ so we then drew simple shapes using different colours. Tip – keep the two pieces of kitchen roll attached.

Hi, I’m Hayley and mum to two boys – Jake 2 1/2 and Noah 11 months and we live in North Wales. I have been a primary teacher for over 10 years. I created my Instagram account at the start of lockdown to help me find inspiration to occupy my boys and to also help inspire others!
Some of my teacher mummy friends also contribute to the page – they have some amazing ideas and want to share them too! So our play activities range from 4months to 4years.

Do you have any tips for other parents?
Prepare something the night before to have ready for the next morning.
Creating a story bag/basket is a great invitation to play – we love play around books.
What are your children’s favourite books?
We love Julia Donaldson books and books about dinosaurs or animals! At the moment Jake enjoyed Handa’s Surprise and What the Ladybird heard.
