Vicky, from Hornchurch, Essex, England, headed out early to enjoy the sunrise. Lets read on…
What did you do?
It was our 2nd Anniversary and with everything being closed I wanted to still make it special for my husband and I, so I took the time to research a beach that has the sun rise over the sea, I found Joss Bay in Kent, I looked up the time of sunrise and planned my timings allowing for my distance of travel and the set up of my romantic Prosecco breakfast on the beach, allowing enough time that so we could sit back and relax listening to the waves crashing on the shore and watching the beautiful skies change colour as the sun came up!
I checked the weather reports and planned my day that I selected around this, I took blankets however I was surprised that it wasn’t that chilly and we didn’t need them after all! The car park we found was right on top of the beach and parking was free up until 7am so that was a bonus! We arrived at 4am and enjoyed 3 hours on the beach just us! Having four children and being at home together for 10 weeks this was very much needed us time away from the new routine of homeschooling our beautiful children! Please check the sunrise times as this will change as the days go on!
It all luckily worked out wonderful for us, suffering from anxiety myself and one of the sounds that help me to relax is that of the sea waves, so this was just perfect and added to the excitement of our anniversary, waking up early actually felt like we was going on our holidays.
I must say that nothing was open including toilets.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

@vicky4_hayward
How are you finding being housebound so far?
To be honest I’ve actually enjoyed the slower pace of life since lockdown, it has helped me reflect and enjoy the basic things in life that are absolutely free, enjoying time together as a family and making our own fun creating happy memories.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all cope in our own ways and you just find the routine that suits you and your family, if your children are happy then you are doing a great job. It’s not always about the best activities and resources it’s about spending time together.
Has this website and community helped you?
I think it’s a brilliant way of sharing ideas to support each other through these challenging times.
