Sian, from Isle of Sheppey, sent in this great hand art idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
I kept seeing people making keepsake memories during lockdown and wanted to make something too. I enjoy arts and crafts so gave this a go.
I bought a blank canvas, I cut around our hands and used blu tac to hold them in place. I wanted the hands to stand out so used an old spray bottle and put paint in it. I found it to thick to spray the way I wanted so added some water to get the effect I wanted. Then I just used other coloured paints on a paintbrush and literally flicked it all over the canvas. Once dry you simply peel off the hands and write what you want.
Do you have any other projects planned?
I’ve also been doing doing a couple of things with sticks/twigs that me and the children find when we go out on our walks. Looking at maybe doing plant pot holders or photo frames.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Sian. I am a mum of 2 boys who are 12 and 6. We live in Kent from the Isle of Sheppey.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
It’s very draining hence why I keep looking for things to keep them and myself busy. I can say I’ve enjoyed making memories with them as usually I’m working full time but am currently furloughed.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Just try not to stress, these are hard times not just for us adults but also the children. My boys miss school and their friends soo much.
Has being part of our community helped you?
Its fantastic, not knowing how to keep you or the kids occupied, this group really helps with that.
