Erin, from Feltham/London, sent in this great idea, a party for a Knight!
What did you do?
Every year for my kids birthdays I ask them what theme they would like to celebrate. For my sons eighth birthday he chose “knights”. I have thrown myself into this theme heart and soul and can honestly say I love it. I used a combination of handmade and online brought decorations. I made the following.. sword in the stone, tassels, candles, fire torches, paper chains, freestanding figure eight and the portcullis.
The only thing I would say I had an issue with and didn’t work originally was the portcullis gate. Originally I tried to make this with duct tape. I couldn’t work with it.. too sticky, uneven you name it but that’s just me others might have found it ok. I opted for a cardboard version in the end using an old multipack crisp box, cheap silver spray paint from the pound shop and some poster paints for the kids I already had at home… oh and my trusty glue gun….result
Do you have any other projects planned?
I am always throwing myself into something creative… it’s a passion for me. I’m hoping I can use my creativity for helping others, maybe decorating parties for others. Making it into a business maybe.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Erin I’m mum to Remi 16, Mason 8 and Halle 5. They certainly keep me busy. So thankful my two youngest have each other as they spend the majority of their time playing and entertaining them selves in some way.

How are you finding being housebound so far?
Being housebound has its challenges as many of you parents already know. We’ve found that being creative has not only helped to keep us sane but we’ve used it towards helping with homeschooling, choosing a topic for the week and applying it to making something related.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Get creative, role play it’s good for the soul. Always remember mums and dads to take a bit of “me” time though. Kids look to their parents all the time and they need a parent at their best not worn out.
Has this website and community helped you?
I think this website serves as great inspiration. I myself am always looking for ideas and what better way to help out other parents. It boosts morale, and inspires. Well done all involved
