Rachel, from North Wales, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
We had a ‘Japan day’ where we all:
*painted the flag
*learnt some Japanese words
*had Japanese pancakes for breakfast
*listened to Japanese music and songs
*found some Japanese stories to watch on YouTube
*learnt a dance with a fan
*learnt some martial arts
*researched some facts about Japan
*the kids painted their name meanings in Japanese as well as making fingerprint cherry blossom trees paintings
*had a rice dish for tea
They really both enjoyed the crafts part of the day as well as doing some martial arts which they fully participated in, and my older daughter loved learning some interesting facts about the country
Do you have any other projects planned?
We’re having a Russia day this week!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Rachel. I have 2 children, a girl aged 6 and a little boy aged 3. I come from South Africa originally but have been living in the UK for 10 years with my British husband.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Enjoying it a lot, as I have my husband at home with me (A teacher who has only been called into work a few days so far) and we’ve had loads of family time – crafts/baking/walks etc.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Spend as much time together as you can, especially outdoors! Appreciate the family time together if your circumstances allow.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I’ve had loads of lovely craft/activity ideas from the group and have really enjoyed being a part of it.
