Chloë, from Somerset, sent in this great ice and fluff play idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

This activity is based on exploring different textures and as my daughter, 3, is obsessed with Frozen this was the perfect theme for this play.

I pulled Cotton pads apart and laid them out in the tray for snow, used cotton wool balls for snow balls, then added ice to the other half of the tray and her Frozen characters.

As you can see from the pictures this can be done on a small scale or larger scale :).

This activity explores so many areas of learning – especially in science (understanding the world) texture, changing states from solid to liquid, temperature and lots more. There are so many ways this play activity can be scaffolded to enhance the play move the play forward.

It’s now a frequent activity in our house especially in the hot weather!

Do you have any other projects planned?

I’m currently midway through painting some peg dolls and have recently ordered some other bits and pieces to paint for Elizas play and to take to work! So super excited about these!!

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Chloë and I am 28 years old. I have a 3 year old daughter called Eliza. We both love gymnastics and I coach a few times a week :).

I also work in a school for children with additional needs, I’ve been working with children for around 14 years and have a degree in Early Years.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Go with the flow! My one rule I’ve tried to follow!
We always do a morning activity and sometimes that activity lasts all day other times I’ll change it up for the afternoon.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself either! Activities are sometimes a hit and sometimes they’re disastrous!! Some days we do nothing and I mean absolutely nothing, pj and duvet day with movies!
