Joanne, from Hampshire, treats her husband to his ‘best birthday ever’ with this scrumptious restaurant-style meal experience!
What did you do?
Having a birthday in lockdown can be hard, especially for adults.
For my husband’s birthday, I wanted to create a restaurant feel at home. We love eating out (on the rare occasion we get to!). We have three children at home, ages 9, 4 and 2!
We prepped in our conservatory in secret. I had menus printed on eBay, popped into our local pound store and picked up the slate and Tea lights (along with other essential shopping items). We also utilised what we had at home and in the garden.
We had so much fun putting the meal together. The children loved helping. My Husband is a keyworker. The time we have together is precious and the need to have adult time was important. We packed the children off to bed, with a few snacks and films and we had a wonderful evening.
It was and I quote “ his best birthday ever”.
How have you been finding recent weeks in the house?
The children were super excited for an evening of chilled entertainment! We have been on an emotional rollercoaster during the lockdown period. Highs and lows all around.
We try to keep it exciting, we set up a diner which was fab! (window service only I will add)… and we are planning a home cinema treat also!
Small gestures and pick me ups really have worked well for us! I feel like a new Mummy today!
