Jae, from Connecticut, USA, sent in this great idea, a honeybee sensory bin. Bees are amazing animals, and what a lovely way to foster a love for them at a young age.
What did you do?
We recently read a book about honeybee sips nectar from flowers and carries back to hive. I prepared yellow-colored egg carton for a bee hive and dyed chickpeas for nectars. Prepared tweezer and spoon are use for my little one move painted chickpeas (nectar) into egg carton (bee hive).
I usually let him lead his way to play, and he always come up with something I’ve never thought of. Kids are amazing!
I love come up with something from what I have instead of buying new every time.
Glad that I saved egg carton which comes a perfect bee hive. This definitely provides a good chance for kids to improve their imagination. Chickpeas are always great (& inexpensive) ingredients to fill up the sensory bin
Do you have any other projects planned?
My son is interested in solar system these days. I did many planet crafts with rubber bands and playdoh, and he loved them. So, I’m trying to come up with something educational combined to his interest.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Jae, a mom of 3 years-old son. Love sharing my motherhood experience and fun kids activities on my instagram @jjjaystagram
How are you finding being housebound so far?
It is sad that we don’t get to make memories with friends, but I feel very blessed that I have my family who understands and supports me to get through this tough time
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Do not push yourself too hard! I love love love time being with my little one. But when I don’t spend enough time to take care of myself, I will eventually burn out at some point. It is very important to take care of yourself as much as you take care of your littles.
Has this website and community helped you?
Love it! Great resource to find fun ways to play with my little one!
