Alex, from Oldham, sent in this great Gruffalo pie idea. What’s a Gruffalo? Why didn’t you know? Read on to find out…
What did you do?
My son, like many children his age, loves The Gruffalo, so while he watched The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child, I made the (steak) pie for tea with a little embellishment. My son absolutely loved it, and it was scrummy! We finished up with reading both stories for bedtime.
It was made in a rush, the need for wholesome food was greater than the aim of perfection! Would definitely take more time over it next time!
Do you have any other projects planned?
Gruffalo crumble! I’ve seen someone post one on Facebook so want to try it myself.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m Alex from Oldham, UK. I am an Open University student, recently made redundant but also full time carer for my highly functioning husband. I have one son, Benjamin, and he is three and half years old.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Pretty much varies day by day, hard to find things to do every day to stimulate little minds that don’t make tonnes of mess or cost lots of money, something already stretched with redundancy and furlough.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Simple activities are just as effective as more complicated ones. Just get down to the floor/table and get stuck in with whatever they are doing; they’ll enjoy it much more and it’ll hold their attention for longer.
Has being part of our community helped you?
Given me so many ideas, and helps me think further on how to improve or adapt other people’s ideas.
