Stephanie, from Essex, and her family made this vibrant hand print tree. Want to make something similar for your family? Read on to find out how…
What did you do?
I bought a canvas from ebay and copied a tree outline in black from the internet. I used my little girl’s paints so didn’t have to buy special paint. My husband and I put our hand prints on first and then over a course of a few days added on our little girl’s hand prints. This allowed for the paint to dry.
Sometimes the hand print didn’t come our as good as I had hoped so a little touching up was needed with a little paint brush. It’s more difficult with the younger hands so it’s a two person job.
What’s your next project idea?
I am going to put a fairy garden outside in my little girl’s play area. I have bought little bits from Pound Land. I am on the look out for an old car tyre to put the fairy garden in.
Tell the HWK community a bit about yourself…
My name is Stephanie. I am a married mum of two beautiful little girls aged nearly 4 and 8 months. I am currently on maternity leave from secondary teaching and my husband is working from home. We live in Billericay, Essex, England.
How are you finding being housebound with kids so far?
I have found being housebound a challenge at times. Especially when the baby hasn’t had a good night. However, her sleep has dramatically improved recently and I am working on my anxiety with an online programme. Therefore being housebound hasn’t been all bad.
We have had lots of time to bond as a new family of 4, which has been great for my husband as he would of been at work. I have kept my eldest busy with lots of arts and crafts. She also loves going for our daily walk, doing scavenger hunts and finding painted stones.
Any tips to help people when they are housebound with kids?
Keep activities for younger children short and sweet. Tidy up as you go. And make sure you get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air!
How has HWK helped you, if at all?
I have got lots of ideas from the facebook page. We have made lots of arts and crafts. One of our favourites has been making monsters from toilet rolls.
