Jessica, from the UK, shows us how she has been teaching her 3 kids the importance of equality, specifically through the Black Lives Matter campaign.
What did you do?
We did some important homeschooling today about what’s going on in our world. My 4-year-old daughter Emily said “it’s okay to be different because we all have the same smiles” and my 6-year-old Oliver said “its mean that people are killed for being different skin colour than peach” MY CHILDREN WILL NOT BE RACIST!🖤🤍
What worked well was describing in drawings for age-appropriate understanding of skin colour as not all children see it.
I’m Jessica, Mum to 3. 3 extremely tiring yet amazing beautiful children Oliver (6) Emily (4) and Tommy-John (9 months). We are all from the UK.
Being housebound has been a challenge and also a struggle but much like a mountain, I have enjoyed the climb.
Entertain the children even if it’s with colouring or something. Do not pressure them to do school work if they don’t want to possibly change it or adapt it to suit what your child enjoys to do like technology or arts and crafts.
I think it’s a brilliant platform to unite everyone together.
