Charlotte, from England, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Our parents usually go to France in June every year, as they couldn’t go this year, my sister and I surprised them with a social distanced French Themed BBQ party, as it was their 45th wedding anniversary.
We had French themed games and quizzes. We all dressed up and made signs of places they visit. We purchased a back drop and flag bunting to make it look like French scenery.
We made signs using polystyrene and cardboard, used stencils for the writing and painted the polystyrene brown for a post effect. We made a caravan from cardboard boxes.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
Charlotte from England, have 2 children, 1 and 4 years. Planned the French party with my sister, Kerry who has an 11 year old.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
We are enjoying time at home all together, as it used to be rare to all sit and eat together, now we are going to make sure we continue sitting together once everything gets more normal.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Don’t stress about what you haven’t got done, just enjoy rare quiet time as a family, you probably won’t get this rare opportunity again.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I love looking at everyone’s ideas and trying out some of the activities with my children.
