Kate, from Surrey, has up-cycled these milk cartons into flower pots. Take a look below for some inspiration for your own version…

What did you do?

We have run out of flower pots so decided to use old milk cartons.

We cut one side to make the hole and also put small round drainage holes at bottom. These ones have lettuce seeds but you can also do it for herbs.

Or turn Carton other way and plant ‘taller’ seeds.

We will see how well they grow but so far looking good!

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

We live in Surrey, UK.

How are you finding being housebound so far?

We love spending more family time together. Juggling working from home and teaching children has been tricky. Due to vulnerable adults also in the house none of us have been very far or into shops for over 10 weeks. So little projects and our veggie patch keeping us entertained and in the fresh air.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

We try to keep routine similar for 7 days a week so that we can all focus. We are flexible to keep in line with weather and to be a little ‘spontaneous’ but some routine and ‘trying’ new activities has helped keep us focused in these challenging times.

Has being part of our community helped you?

Ideas, community, connection, support and generally something ‘new’ to focus on or talk about as potential work/project.
