John, from Yorkshire, England, has been training the next generation of fire fighters. Let’s take a look at what he did…
What did you do?
If your child is into anything fire/fireman/firewoman related then go on YouTube and search “Fireplace” on the app on your TV or on your phone then cast it to the TV.
Then use any props such as an airbed pump or hoover hose to double up as firefighting hose to try put out the fire.
I thought it would only keep him entertained for a minute or two but 20+ minutes later he was still going. We changed the fireplace every few minutes and he thought it was a new fire each time.
We also got all his fire related toys involved, i.e. Fireman Sam vehicles, Marshall from Paw Patrol, Fireman outfit and Helmet
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m John from Yorkshire, England. Father of a 2yr old toddler with another on the way. Also got 2 Golden Retrievers so it often feels like we have 3 kids with another on the way.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Having lost my job in April, spending everyday with him has helped get me through the tough days. Obviously being a toddler means everything is done at a million miles per hour so you don’t get much time to think of anything else other than them.
I then broke my foot in May so he has been helping look after me, in a fashion.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Take each day as it comes.
Has being part of our community helped you?
It’s full of great ideas, it’s been great to get some inspiration.
