Ruth, from the UK, shows us the paint stenciling work she has been doing on her garden fences…
You will need:
- Cardboard
- Pen
- Stanley knife
- tape
- paint brush (I found smaller brushes easier to use)
- fence paint in your chosen colours
Method:
1. Draw out your preferred shapes onto cardboard and cut these out using a Stanley knife.
2. Using the tape, affix the stencil to the fence and use the paint brush to draw out the stencil. I found it easiest to draw the outline of the shape with the help of the stencil and then remove the stencil and fill in the shape freehand.
3. Repeat until the section of fence is filled.
Notes – if your fence is more of a flat surface, then a sponge may work better than a paint brush. Otherwise, a paint brush should be used as the stencil won’t sit flat to the fence.
