Zephy, from Plymouth, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Using coloured garage doors out the back of my house, it inspired me to get my girls and I dressed up in rainbow colours and create an editorial photo series in front of them. Colour is everywhere and it seemed a shame not to make the most of it when it’s literally outside my house and with all this free time! You’d be surprised when you start looking, just how many items in your house you have of the same colour… so pick a colour, get your kids to go on a hunt and get dressed up for a photograph!
It was a lot to get done in a couple of days and would be better suited to doing one colour a day! I used a tripod if you don’t have a family member to take it for you, which rushing around means you can make technical mistakes! (I had to go back and reshoot one which my daughter of course loved!) apart from that, the lighting was great, the neighbours had a laugh and my kids were in their element.
Do you have any other projects planned?
I would like to take it one step further by doing the colours we’ve missed and finding other cool coloured backdrops to style ourselves against!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I’m a photographer with a degree in Commericial Photography, I studied at Plymouth College of Art in Plymouth where I learned the art of editorial! I have two children April who is nine and Hazel who is 8 months old, they love to model and love getting creative. @withlovefromatoz
