Kylie, from Flintshire, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
I had an old planter that I stapled some black weed liner on to cover the gaps. I then filled the planter with spare bricks, slabs and rocks to fill in as much space as possible. Then topped it up using gravel. For the painted rocks we use Scottish Cobbles.
My children and I used acrylic paints/paint pens and yatch varnish. Some are fairy related and some aren’t. My children love painting on the rocks even if it’s just scribbles. But they all work well. I added in a bird house and and made a fairy house using small stones from the garden and lemonade bottle. My eldest has a fairy called Pansy that visits through the fairy door.
Small gravel stones worked well as they fill in all the nooks and crannies. I used a hot glue gun for the fairy house but gorilla glue would be better. The rain hasn’t been too kind to the glue from the hot glue gun. I think bright colours work well.
Do you have any other projects planned?
My next project would be to Paint the planter to bring more colour to it.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name’s Kylie and I have 2 wild cracker children ages 7 & 3.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I am still working so some days it feels like its hard to fit everything in but on the whole it’s ok. I suppose I could say it’s been a mix of Busy, stressful, fun and interesting.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Don’t be so hard on yourselves.
Has being part of our community helped you?
It’s great to see so many different ideas and be able to attempt things you wouldn’t normally.
