Nikki, from Essex, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
We cracked open eggs with a spoon and then rinsed them out with cool water. Added a drop of washing up liquid inside each one and rinsed out. I left them to dry upside down in the egg carton.
Then we filled each one with a different coloured paint. Cut out tissue paper into small circular shapes and then used a glue stick around the edges and covered the whole with it. We used a canvas that we had but I think if you mounted some paper or card onto some cardboard it would work too. And then stand back and throw
It does get quite messy so I would definitely put a sheet of some kind down next time. I would definitely make sure we had more egg shells next time.
Do you have any other projects planned?
I want to bake some geometric heart cakes
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Nikki I have a son named Tobie who is 7. We love to learn through play. I work in a school and love my job. I live in Essex in the U.K.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I am finding it pretty good as I am enjoying my sons learning and being able to add elements of play to his home learning. My son is currently shielding so we are staying at home and not leaving the garden.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
To be creative with the resources you have at home. Try and see children’s strengths and interests and try to spark wonder with activities that you wouldn’t usually do.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I have managed to find some really useful ideas to use at home with my family.
