Linzi, from South Derbyshire, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
My daughter attends a local dance academy and since lockdown her dance teacher has been setting daily challenges. Over the weekend our challenge was to make a dress from recycled items or things from around the house. So we got to work and came up with an idea. It was so much fun my daughter so was so happy with finished dress she went on to win the daily challenge.
We used dustbin bags old garden netting an old birthday banner and tin foil and not to forget.. the buffet platter for her head piece. everything worked perfectly.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Linzi, I’m 36 from Swadlincote in Derbyshire. I live with my husband and 3 children 2 sons 18 and 14 and a daughter 7. My daughter, Nevaeh is very creative so this challenge was perfect for her. We had so much fun.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Being in lockdown has had its ups and downs but we are all keeping busy. My husband is a key worker. My eldest has decided to spend lockdown at his girlfriend’s. My other son is a typical 14 year old and spends all day on his computer so that just leaves my daughter and myself. We spend most days doing school work, playing in the garden, watching movies, painting and playing games. I’ve enjoyed lockdown as I’ve got a lot of things done I always put of doing.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Try to keep some sort of routine. Plan out the next day and keep your little ones in the loop. When my daughter knows what we are doing each day the day tends to run more smoothly
