Priyanka, from India, shows us how to create a kitchen set made from cardboard! Let’s read on…
So my 3-year-old daughter was crazy about the kitchen. She usually sits by my side in the kitchen while I’m cooking. That’s when I realised she needs a mini kitchen. So I promised her to gift a kitchen set once she is potty trained. So finally she was potty trained and was eagerly waiting for her kitchen. But unfortunately, it was lockdown, So I thought to handcraft it, and it worked, she loved it!
Things you need:
- Cardboard boxes (I used diaper boxes since I had plenty)
- Tape or glue or hot glue gun
- Colour paper of your choice
- Play Sink or you can use any big bowl
- Any handle ( or you can make your own, I used one from wheat flour sac)
Instructions:
Just put the boxes together as shown in the picture. For the microwave and oven handles, I used white yarn wrapped over cardboard strip and joined it using glue. For the fridge handle, I used the one from a wheat flour sac.
Next project:
Next, I’m planning to try a cardboard washer and dryer.
Brief background
We are a family of 4, me, my husband, my 3-year-old daughter and my 1-year-old son. We are from India. My husband is a software engineer working from home these days. I love crafting especially recycling stuff and these days its fun to engage my daughter in such activities.
How are you finding being housebound with kids so far?
Everyday is a new challenge when you have kids. Sometimes it’s a total mess but most of the time its never-ending fun. Kids love being engaged and that’s the biggest challenge too. Playing with them, coloring their favorite cartoon, and sometimes homeschooling makes us feel more accomplished at the end of the day and the kids are happiest.
Any tips to help people when they are housebound with kids?
Spend time as much as you can with your kids. Do crafting together. Find some creative ways for homeschooling. More than that do something that makes you happy because happy parents raise happy kids. Being homebound with kids also helps to strengthen the bond you share with your kids.
Has the HWK community helped you?
I think it’s an awesome community to spread creativity around the world. You guys are doing great.
