Kelly, from South Yorkshire, sent in this great idea for a busy board that she made for her daughter. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
The idea behind this board is to create something fun and educational for my daughter to play with. I’ve added items/activities that I know my daughter will enjoy and learn from. For example, she loves helping with the washing so I’ve added her a little washing line. She is always singing the alphabet song, so now she has the letters to play with and we can practice putting them in order and learn to spell some simple words.
I didn’t have a plan when it came to this board, so I didn’t expect much to go right. However, I am very happy with the results. I didn’t have a strict plan of how I wanted it to be, but the ideas I had came together nicely!
Do you have any other projects planned?
I’ve already completed so many little craft projects throughout lockdown, I think I’m completely out of ideas! Please send some my way!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Kelly, I’m 27 years old and have my 2 year old daughter Belle. We are from the UK! I’m currently furloughed from work and so I’ve used this opportunity to get crafty with my daughter. I’ve always had an artsy/creative side (not that I’m all that good at it) but for me it’s fun.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
Before lockdown I didn’t get much time at home. My work meant that I’d rarely be home to put Belle to bed, nevermind spend time with her. I’ve loved been home with her and tried to make the most of our time together. I’m in no way saying it has been easy though. There has definitely been more chocolate biscuits consumed than usual and a lot more Peppa Pig on the telly just to get a moment’s quiet time.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
I’m definitely just winging this whole lockdown thing! I would say that getting outside at every possible opportunity has helped make it a little easier, whether that be a long family walk or a little picnic in the garden.
