Ruth, from Cleethorpes UK, enjoyed creating a dinosaur sensory tuff tray. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
To make the moon sand use 4 cups flour (any will do) and 1/2 cup vegetable oil. Mix together to form a breadcrumb type texture. You can use baby oil but this isn’t taste safe.
The slime swamp was a pack I bought from Amazon.
I added shredded paper which I got with a parcel and saved.
The little trees came with my little boys dinosaurs.
Stones are from my garden and
Moss pebbles from Amazon.
To make the dinosaur eggs, I covered his small dinosaurs with playdough and wrapped them in foil. This is also to stop them drying out.
T loves playing families at the minute so he played for quite a while with this. He hates slime so that didn’t get played with at all.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Ruth. I have a little boy who is 2.5 years old. I’m a primary teacher of 19 years but currently not working as we are due to move from the UK to Germany with my RAF husband.

How are you finding being housebound so far?
To start with it was quite good as my husband was at home and he normally works away. Since he’s been back at work I’ve found it a lot more tricky.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Plan your week. Every Sunday I sit down and write a list of activities/themes I want to do. I don’t necessarily do them or stick to the theme but it helps me feel a bit more in control. Plus give yourself a break. We have so much more screen time now!
Has this website and community helped you?
It’s great to share ideas with others and to gain ideas.
