Dani, from London, shares her colour ball drop game idea with us. Let’s take a look…

What did you do?

I originally made this game for my youngest to practice her gross motor skills and colour matching skills (I labeled each circle a specific colour). She absolutely loved it and it was so easy to make!
My older daughter then used the same activity to match shapes, letters and numbers. The possibilities are endless!

What you need:
A box
Scissors
Ball Pond Balls

What you need to do:
– Cut the box halfway across 2 sides (so there is a section cut out)
– Cut 3 circles out of one side of the box
– Ball Pond Balls can now be dropped through the holes and will sit in the bottom.

Both girls LOVED that the balls stayed in the box so the game was never-ending! It was such a great activity!

Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…

My name is Dani and I am Mummy to 2 girls (3 in August and 18 months). We live in London and love playing!

How are you finding being housebound so far?

It has been a real learning curve for all of us. I have loved being a part of their learning and development! We have had such a great time as a family but I am very much looking forward to getting out a bit more.

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Be organised: I spend each evening planning the next day so I can be sure I have everything ready.
Be prepared: sometimes an activity will work, sometimes it won’t. They are children – not robots!
Accept there will be mess and that’s ok 🙂 . As long as everyone is happy that’s the most important (within reason).
Breathe!!!!! This is a long journey so it is important to pace yourself and try to act calmly in situations (sometimes easier said than done..)

Has this website and community helped you?

It is great to see what other people have been up to.
