Donna, from Eastleigh, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
For my sons 7th birthday I decided to do him a circus/carnival themed garden party with a bouncy castle and lots of different games to play. Due to the lockdown we were unable to invite any friends or go anywhere to celebrate so I just really wanted both my sons to feel like they were somewhere else for a day and have so much fun that they didn’t miss family and friends too much.
The bouncy castle was the biggest hit of the day and the boys completely exhausted themselves!
My eldest some loved the arts and crafts table and they both loved the lucky dip game!
Do you have any other projects planned?
We’re currently renovating our house and our kitchen should be finished in a couple of months so I’m planning a kitchen celebration party where we can make cakes and decorate the room for the official opening
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Donna, I have 2 very active, talkative boys called Tyler and Jax. Tyler is 7 and Jax is 3.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
We have found it quite difficult being at home all this time as we bought our house last year and it requires full renovation so we’ve been living in a building site. We finally got turf down in the garden ready for Tyler’s birthday so it’s great now to have that outside space we can use.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
I made a reward chart on a white board and when the boys are good they get a sticker each. Once they’ve collected 5 stickers they get to choose a prize from a goody bag I have which is filled with lots of little prizes – mainly bits from Poundland and sweets etc. This really helps when one of them is having a funny day just to remind them that if they be good they will get a sticker and maybe a prize.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I think it’s a brilliant idea which I’ve only found out about recently so I intend to have a look through some of the posts and see if I can get any tips or ideas.
