Beth, from Derbyshire, sent in this great maths snacktivity idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Write some Maths calculations appropriate for your child on small slips of paper and put them into the cups of a muffin tray. (You could also just write them inside the cups using a whiteboard pen.)
Give them a bowl with some cereal in, (fruit loops or Cheerios work really well!)
They need to work out the calculations and put the correct number of cereal pieces into each cup.
It was a ‘snacktivity’!
Do you have any other projects planned?
My eldest is going to school in September so I’m planning lots of games to support him.
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
I am a primary school teacher and I have two little ones aged 4 and nearly 2. I love sharing quick and simple ideas for learning through play on my Instagram @playwithb_and_a
What are your family’s favourite board game(s)/card game(s)?
My little boy loves ‘Don’t wake Dad’. He’s also really enjoying Snakes and Ladders at the moment, which is great for counting and number recognition!
What are your children’s favourite books?
Monstersaurus and Zog are the faves at the moment!
What toys would you recommend to other parents?
We love magnetic tiles, Duplo and paint sticks!
