Geni and her family, from Stirling, show us how she created this fantastic bunting from wipe-clean tablecloth. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
This is a great way to give an old waterproof tablecloth a new use.
I had this white and yellow chevron one that had seen better days. I happen to have everything I needed in the house, and we got about 8mts worth of bunting for the garden. It kept my 6 y.o. entertained all afternoon.
We thought that using the ruler to draw the triangles was best, as my son then could follow the lines to cut along them.
We also found that, stapling the flags to the string kept them in place, so we did this to also keep them in the exact distance from each other.
Do you have any other projects planned?
We have a Wendy house that is a bit faded. My two youngest go in it just about every day, so we’re thinking of freshen the paint up somehow!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Eugenia, but my loved ones call me Geni.
I’m 42, Spanish and live in Stirling with my Scottish husband and my 3 sons: Scott (6), Pablo (3) and Carlos (1).
How are you finding being housebound so far?
The longer we are into lockdown, the more anxious we all feel. For weeks, we didn’t go out, not even for walks. We have a good size garden and, luckily, the weather has been great up here, so we’ve done loads in the garden. But last few weeks have been a struggle.
We try to go out every day, sometimes as a family, others on my own, often with one (if not all) of my kids. Loads of free play and encourage them to do different activities.
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Don’t force them to do any activities if they don’t show any interest. You’ll save yourself a tantrum.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I love how we all share what we do to inspire others and how we (or at least, I do) refer to what the community is doing to inspire us!
