Stacey, from Epsom and Ewell, sent in this great idea. Let’s take a look at it…
What did you do?
Like all mums I love to take photos on my phone of my little one! After being unable to go ahead with a professional Photoshoot of my daughters special day I was left devastated. However I remembered my father bought me a canon camera a couple of years back I’d never really gotten round to using so this was the perfect time!
I ordered a photography backdrop online for around £15 and then my chosen decorations also online from eBay and Amazon! I made sure I ordered everything a month in advance to ensure everything arrived on time and also to check the quality as everything was really cheap to buy so at first I was a little sceptical but everything was just as I wanted.
I also baked the cake myself purchasing the cake topper online also! Her outfit was also around £6 With delivery from wish! Then whilst my LO had her nap I got set up, we didn’t have a photography stand as I’m not a professional so we improvised and stuck it to the kitchen worktops with sellotape and used a full kettle to weight it down. We used the kitchen as it has lots of natural light coming in. I then decorated everything as I wanted. When she woke up we got her dressed and got to work it was so much fun.
The only thing that I’d do differently in further is limit it too just myself and my partner or myself and one other as my sister who lives with us was there and my LOs nanny came with her dog to watch the fun, and I think this was a little overwhelming and distracting for her especially as she loves the dog and he loves cake!
Do you have any other projects planned?
I think I will continue to play around with more little home shoots and possibly enrole in a photography course to learn how to use a camera properly. Then who knows I may turn this lovely new found hobby Into a job
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
My name is Stacey I’m 30 years old and a veterinary nurse originally from Southport in Merseyside but moved to Surrey after meeting my daughters father where we now live in our first family home.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
I’m lucky to have a very happy little girl who mainly easy going, and we have some lovely walks around where we live so we try to get out as much as possible! Being housebound can sometimes be hard especially as before lockdown we attending so many baby classes and have lots of friends with baby’s the same ages or within the same year! So the lack of contact has been hard especially having such a social LO who loves people! But we try and get in the garden as much as possible or out on little walks
Do you have any tips for other parents?
Get out and about or in the garden if you have one as much as you possibly can or find a little project to focus on!
Has being part of our community helped you?
I think it’s a great idea it share inspiration to other parents, as being a tired parent can sometimes mean thinking of new things to do can be tough and we all suffer from the dreaded mum guilt!
