Nancy and family, from Formby near Liverpool, are no strangers to travel. Whilst they may not be able to go globe trotting at the moment, it doesn’t mean that they can’t bring the globe to them. Let’s take a look at their trip to Brazil…
What did you do?
We’ve made nearly 30 pretend holidays over the last year. The weather was amazing in the U.K. so this time we headed to pretend Brazil. We made Brazilian chocolate cake, played football on our local beach, made Rio Carnival masks, made a mini Copacabana beach and made Caipirinha‘s (for the grown ups)
The whole thing was great fun. I’d love to also go to a Brazilian restaurant as part of the day once lockdown is over. There are some great ones in Liverpool.
Do you have any other projects planned?
Today we went to pretend Argentina.
Horses and polo and homemade Dulche de Leche and steak and colouring and red wine and Evita. Oh my!!
Tell the Housebound With Kids community a bit about yourself…
Hi, I’m Nancy. I’m a teacher, a mother and a part time traveller.
This blog came out from my experiences trying to entertain my small humans during the school holidays and in quarantine. Penelope is six and Freddie is three and they love days out, adventures, new tastes and exciting ideas.
As a family spilt between New Zealand and the UK we travel a lot, but budgets and work don’t always allow us the time or money to see the world, so this blog is all about our ideas for the stay at home holidays. We have invented a system where we travel the world while staying at home, one recipe, experience or adventure at a time.
Toddlers and fine dining don’t mix so this blog is all about messy play, free days out and adventures for the family with a world traveller vibe.
How are you finding being housebound so far?
As a teacher I’ve had the challenge of remote teaching my older pupils and also my own children at home. The weather has helped!
Do you have any tips for other parents?
We try to do all of our work in the morning so we can have the afternoon to play.
Has being part of our community helped you?
I love the feeling that we are a big community and some of the tips have been invaluable.
