Jess, from Missouri, sent in this great rainbow ice idea. Let’s take a look at it…

What did you do?

Simply freeze colored water in an ice cube tray for a fun sensory experience! Once the cubes froze, we took them outside in a small tub with some squirt bottles. You can make your own squirt bottle by poking a few holes in the lid of a plastic water bottle, or use whatever you have around the house! It’s a great opportunity to talk about cold and melting as well!

Squirt bottles are very fun for kids, and they’re also great for developing the muscles in the hands needed for writing!

Do you have any tips for other parents?

Have a schedule, but go with the flow! Quick setup activities are often the most successful for us…often dumping dried beans and a few containers in a bin leads to an hour of play!

What toys would you recommend to other parents?

My number one toy recommendation is the flisat table for sensory play! We use ours daily.
